Cyber Care Is Patient Care – Sign Up to Our Free Workshop Series

October 28th 2025

All care providers rely on digital systems to deliver high-quality, efficient services. But what happens if those systems suddenly go down? Could your organisation continue to manage care plans, health records, and essential operations without them for days, or even weeks?

As daunting as it may seem, it’s crucial that we talk about the worst-case scenario. Technology is now woven into every aspect of care, and with that comes a serious cyber security risk we must understand and prepare for. In the age of AI, cyber threats are more sophisticated than ever, and just one mistake could compromise sensitive patient data.

Recognising this growing challenge, the Cyber Centre of Excellence, Digital Care Hub, and Care England have joined forces to deliver a free three-part cyber security workshop series designed specifically for the care sector. The Cyber in Care series aims to help care providers build resilience, protect data, and ensure continuity of care in the face of modern cyber threats.

Workshop One: Cyber in Care – How Much Should You Know?

Wednesday 12th November 2025
12:00 – 1:30 PM (Online)

This 90-minute interactive session will equip care leaders, managers, and frontline teams – both residential and domiciliary – with practical, jargon-free advice on strengthening digital resilience. The session includes an hour of educational content and interactive exercises, followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A for our expert speakers to address audience concerns.

Key topics include:

  • Creating strong passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA), and managing passwords securely
  • Using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to protect remote work
  • Detecting AI-driven phishing scams
  • Understanding ransomware risks
  • Data Security and Protection Toolkits (DSPT)
  • Care-specific data and digital compliance

This introductory session is ideal for anyone taking their first steps toward improving cyber awareness and safety.

Workshop Two: The Deep, the Dark and the Hidden Dangers

 21st January 2026

12:00 – 1:30 PM (Online)

This session will explore the dark web and the hidden threats that can impact care organisations. Attendees will learn how login credentials end up on the dark web and how this exposure can lead to cyber-attacks. After attending Workshop One, participants can sign up for a free dark web scan from the Cyber Centre of Excellence to identify any compromised credentials linked to their organisation’s email domain, along with tailored guidance to address vulnerabilities.

Workshop Three: Resilience, Recovery & Incident Response

25th February 2026

12:00 – 1:30 PM (Online)

The final session will focus on continuity and recovery planning. It will provide templates, checklists, and exercises to help organisations prepare for and respond to cyber incidents. Participants will explore tools such as digital twin visualisation and tabletop exercises to build stronger preparedness and resilience.

Cyber security is ultimately about safeguarding people, not just systems. Join us and take proactive steps toward a safer, more secure future for the care sector.
