Our theme for March 2026 is ‘difficult conversations’.
The world of care has changed. Sensors monitor people in their own homes, care services are trialing the use of robots and AI to plug workforce gaps, and technology has the opportunity to improve choice and control or to remove personal autonomy.
- How do you balance a family’s need for reassurance with a person’s right to privacy?
- What does meaningful consent look like when technology keeps evolving and collecting more data?
- And as robotics and automation advance, what are we really saying about the role of care workers?
Acknowledging that we each bring priorities and pressures into the conversation helps create a more constructive starting point. When trade-offs are named openly, they can be worked through collectively rather than defensively.

Balancing privacy, Consent and care – 19 March 2026
We recently hosted two webinars on Difficult conversations, bringing together people from across adult social care to explore how technology is being used in practice, and the questions it raises.
The sessions looked at two closely linked issues. The first focused on privacy and the use of home sensors. The second explored choice and consent, and how decisions about technology are made in real situations.
Don’t dodge difficult conversations – 3 March 2026
We want to explore some of the tensions, trade-offs and ethical challenges that come with data and technology in adult social care. Not to reject innovation. Not to slow progress. But to be honest and find solutions.
