Free Data Policy Builder – Launch with BYOD Policy

Join the launch webinar to find out more about our new Data Policy Builder.

This free online tool helps adult social care providers understand key data protection and cyber security issues and create policies that genuinely reflect their organisation’s systems, processes, and ways of working.

While it may be tempting to copy and paste policies from elsewhere, generic policies can leave providers exposed, as they often fail to reflect day-to-day practice and could lead to non-compliance with data protection law or Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) standards.

The Data Policy Builder makes policy creation simple and supportive. It:

  • Creates understanding and explains the topic and key risks
  • Asks a series of practical questions about what the organisation currently does and wants to do
  • Generates a draft policy that can be downloaded, branded, shared, and embedded
  • Advises on reviewing and updating the policy over time

The first policy available will focus on Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) — a high-risk area where many providers allow staff to use their own mobile phones for work purposes. Research by Digital Care Hub found that while half of care providers allow personal device use, only half of providers allowing BYOD currently have a policy in place, leaving staff and services vulnerable to data breaches, compliance issues and cyber risks.
