Windows 10 approaching end of life – Act now to stay secure

June 12th 2025

Microsoft will officially stop supporting Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. After this date, there will be no more security updates, bug fixes, or technical support.

For adult social care providers, this raises serious data security risks – and it’s crucial to start planning now.  We have published a short guide to the changes.

What does ‘End of Life’ mean?

Your Windows 10 device won’t stop working immediately – but it will stop being safe. Without regular updates, your systems become increasingly vulnerable to viruses, cyber-attacks and data breaches. Hackers often target outdated software, and care providers handle sensitive personal information that must be protected.

“Many adult social care providers are still using Windows 10,” says Sam Cattell, Cyber Security Lead at Digital Care Hub. “From October 2025, every one of those systems will become a potential target for cyber criminals. Planning your upgrade now is essential to protect your data, your staff, and the people you support.”

Why upgrade to Windows 11?

Upgrading to Windows 11 means your system will continue to receive vital security updates, helping to keep your data safe from emerging threats. It also offers better performance, improved usability, and compatibility with the latest apps and software. Staying on an unsupported system means falling behind in both protection and functionality.

You may be able to upgrade for free if your device meets the minimum requirements.  If it doesn’t, speak to your IT supplier about replacement options that suit your service and budget.

Take action now

For older systems, budgeting and planning for hardware upgrades should start now to avoid last-minute panic and risk.

Stay secure. Stay supported. Plan your upgrade today.
