The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is adapting its Evidence Standards Framework for digital care technologies used in adult social care. To help get it right, NICE is running two short surveys: one for care provider leaders and frontline professionals, and one for commissioners and purchasers of digital care technologies.

What do the surveys cover?
Survey for care providers and frontline professionals
This survey asks about your experience of digital care technologies in adult social care. This could include electronic care records, falls sensors, monitoring devices, digital communication tools, apps, or technology that helps staff plan and deliver care.
You do not need to be a technology expert to take part. NICE is interested in a wide range of experiences, whether you use technology in your day-to-day work, support people to use it, help introduce it across a service, or make decisions about what to buy and how it should be used.
Survey for commissioners and purchasers
This short survey is for people who commission or purchase digital care technologies. It asks how you make decisions, what information you need to feel confident in those decisions, and what would make the framework useful in practice.
NICE is particularly interested in the evidence that would help commissioners and purchasers at different stages, including piloting, procurement, scaling, pausing, decommissioning, or deciding not to proceed. There are no right or wrong answers; NICE wants to hear about your views and experience.
How will the responses help?
The Evidence Standards Framework describes the evidence that should be available for digital health and care technologies. By adapting it for adult social care, NICE can better reflect the realities of different services, roles and working environments, as well as the needs of people who draw on care and support.
Your feedback can show NICE what people in different roles need when they are assessing, purchasing or using technology. It can highlight the questions providers, commissioners and purchasers face, the evidence that would help them make confident decisions, and the practical barriers the adapted framework needs to address.
