A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Digital Care Summit London on 23 September. Delegates, speakers, performers, sponsors and partners made it a warm, lively day full of honest conversations, shared learning and practical ideas about how digital change can support better care.
We are just about recovering!
A day full of ideas
We covered a lot of ground. The programme moved from digital social care records, AI and emerging technology to cyber resilience, regulation, data sharing and consent. We also looked at how care can be better connected across London, how providers, local authorities and integrated care boards can work more closely together, and what neighbourhood health needs from digital. The topics were varied, but the same message kept coming through: technology works best when it is practical, built on trusted relationships and shaped by the people who draw on care.
Michelle’s takeaways
For our CEO, Michelle Corrigan, three points really stood out:
“We need to make technology work for providers, carers and people drawing on care—not make them work for the technology. More data does not automatically mean better care; we have to do something meaningful with it. There is huge energy and enthusiasm for social care and neighbourhoods at the moment. We have an opportunity to transform people’s lives, but digital must be part of the discussion from the very start, not an afterthought.”
Starting – and ending – with lived experience
We started the day with Empathy, the theatre group of unpaid carers from Greenwich Carers Centre, and they set the tone brilliantly. Their original performance, Navigating Care in a Digital World, put people and their everyday experiences right at the heart of the conversation from the outset. It was honest, moving and a timely reminder that digital services need to be accessible, inclusive and shaped by the people who use them.
And to close the day we announced the winners of the Digital Care Photography Competition which told the story of how tech is supporting people in their everyday lives. Congratulations to winner Tamas Roska-Csiki of Hallmark Care’s Chamberlain Court, and a special mention to winner of the People’s Choice photo – Jennifer Pearl of TLAP and the National Co-production Advisory Group.

Days like this only happen because a lot of people put in a lot of work. A special thank you goes to the whole Digital Care Hub team, and particularly to Marta Bascunan, for the care, energy and hard work that brought everything together. Our co-production partners- Care Providers’ Voice, Care City, London Care and Support Forum, NHS England London Region, Think Local Act Personal and the National Co-production Advisory Group – helped us build the programme around the priorities of providers, carers and people with lived experience.

What next?
The early feedback captures the spirit of the day. People valued the “chance to meet people in the field, have organic conversations”, as well as the practical examples and direct input from frontline staff. We are now working through all the notes, ideas and feedback and asking ourselves: what next? There is plenty to build on, and we will share more about our plans soon.
